Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
I Corinthians 15:58

Worship Helpers

Liturgy
An Episcopal service is a liturgical service which means that it is a work of the people ...a lot of people, people just like you. Everyone participates in the service. You participate when you respond to prayers, when you sing, when you take communion or a blessing. Some people are even more active with preparing, planning, and helping with the service.

Acolytes

Acolytes
Are you somewhere between grade 5 and 12? If so, the ministry of Acolyte is a great way for you to be actively involved in the worship life at St. John’s. Acolytes perform a wide variety of jobs in our worships services, ranging from carrying torches, banners and processional crosses, to assisting at the altar during Holy Communion.

Acolytes, as leaders of worship, are responsible for seeing to it that everyone in the congregation experiences worship that glorifies God. Acolytes do this through leading by example (participating in worship themselves) and by not drawing attention to themselves.

You would be part of a wonderful and dynamic group. We'd love to have more youth active in this ministry. Please see Carol for details or contact the Parish Office. (330) 928-2139

Acolyte's Prayer:
Be present, Lord Jesus, Be present! Grant that I may faithfully and loyally serve you in love and through my service proclaim, "In all things, God be glorified." Amen.

Altar

Altar Guild
Purificator, credence table, paten, corporal….
These are just a few of the new terms you could learn as a member of the Altar Guild.

As a member of the Altar Guild, you help with the care and maintenance of all items used in the altar area, i.e. candles/linens and those items used during Communion. The Altar Guild sets up and cleans up of the altar area for all services, including Sunday services, funerals, weddings and others. If there is any type of service going on in the church, the Altar Guild is usually involved.

You would be part of a diverse group of both retired and actively employed people. Meetings are held once a month on the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM; however, we take a break from meeting during the summer months.

If you have an eye for detail and like to work "behind the scene" then Altar Guild might be the calling for you. Members usually serve a 2 week rotation every 5 weeks. If you're interested, call the parish office for more details. (330) 928-2139!

Choir

Choir
We have vacancies in the choir and we'd love to have you fill them! We offer the "best seats in the house" and we are always the best dressed. You can be sure that you will be the envy of the parish in your robe and one of the elegant stoles that have been designed especially for you. Be sure and get in on the fellowship and joyful music that we can make together.
