Because of that obedience,
God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything,
ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even
those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before
this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master
of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.

A Typical Sunday
Service
Maybe
you're new to the area and you're looking for an Episcopal Church to
call home. Perhaps the Episcopal Church you used to attend is no longer
the right place for you. Maybe you're not Episcopalian at all. Maybe
you've never even been to church. It could be that your son or daughter
has
asked to see the inside of "the castle on the corner" or maybe
you're curious to know what our
stained
glass looks like. Maybe you're not sure what you're looking for, but
you know you are looking for something
very
special.
You might
even be a "seeker." The three wise men that visited the baby
Jesus were
seekers
so you'd be
in
good
company.
Whatever might bring you to our door, we'd be glad to have you
as our guest.
You will discover our typical Sunday service is a blend of traditional
Episcopalian elements with some extra features to help you feel comfortable.
The entire
service is printed in an easy to follow bulletin. Children are given
their own special bulletin that explore the Bible lessons that will be
read. You will never be singled out or asked to stand up in front of
everyone to be introduced.
Our service is broken up into two main parts. The Word and Holy Communion
are separated by a break during which we share the Lord's Peace and make
general announcements.
During The Word, you will hear stories from the Bible, be able
to sing hymns and psalms with us. You can pray with us and receive God's
blessing. This is also the part of the service where you will have an
opportunity
to experience teaching through sermons, homilies, and children's chats.
After the Peace, we collect an
offering to do God's work. As our guest, we hope you let our service
be our gift to you. You have already blessed us with your presence. At
Communion, everyone is welcome at God's table. You can receive the bread,
the bread and the wine, or if you are not ready to receive these gifts
you can let the priest know you'd like a blessing by crossing your arms
over your chest (or just saying so works too.)
As we sing the final hymn and the cross is carried past your pew, you
may notice we turn around and follow it with our eyes. Odd behavior isn't
it? We are reminding ourselves that our walk with Christ doesn't
end with the Sunday service, and we hope that yours doesn't either. It
is actually just beginning. We are mentally visualizing that cross being
carried outside those church doors, in our hearts and in your heart,
in our lives and
in your
life,
every
day of the coming week.
Open the doors and let the Son shine out!
