"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
Galatians 2:20

St. John's Episcopal Church
Welcomes You To Our
Home on the Web

We're so glad you've stopped by. St. John's is an Episcopal Church that welcomes all people. You will find an eclectic blend of maturity and youth, believers and seekers, life long Episcopalians and those who are "testing the waters". Our community is knit together by our love of God and our desire to share that love with you through worship, acts of service, and spiritual formation.

Here you will find a safe place to think, to question, to learn and to grow. You are God's beloved child.

The Reverend Deborah Rankin answered our call and joined our parish in May 2007 to serve as our priest. This was a long journey for St. Johns, beginning with a two year period of reflection with an Interim Rector. During this time, we learned about the parish life cycle - growth/decline as well as renewal, redevelopment, and rebirth. Our Interim Rector prepared us to call a new Priest by teaching us to be better disciples of Christ, helping us reconnect with the Great Mission of the church and opening our hearts to the work of the Holy Spirit. With our new priest, we are ready to grow in Christ, redefine our ministry, and spread the Good News as the Holy Spirit guides us.

We hope you will join us as we welcome The Reverend Deborah Rankin to our parish and the Greater Summit County community.

Our Sunday Worship Time

8:00 a.m. Quiet Service with Holy Communion
9:30 a.m. Sunday School for All Ages
10:00 a.m. Holy Communion with Music

We realize that children are often separated from their parents/guardians due to school, work, and activities. Young families are encouraged to bring their children to Sunday Worship so that we may all, regardless of age, celebrate the word of God together.

The "bell tower" in the worship area has Biblical storybooks, color books, and other spiritual activities. Every Sunday each child receives their very own "Children's Worship Bulletin" that will help them understand what we read from the Bible each week.

Midweek Prayer and Worship

7:00pm on Thursdays

Join us for contemporary music with guitar as we center ourselves in prayer. Prayer requests are collected in a prayer journal. These requests are then lifted up on Thursday evenings.

Donations Needed

St. John's Soup Kitchen

Our Soup's On soup kitchen serves a free lunch on the last Saturday of every month. This program is completely run by volunteers using donations from local grocers, food banks, and people like you.

See our Wish List on the Soup's On page for a complete list of items we currently need. With your help, we can continue this service to our community.

Upcoming Events

Candlelight Christmas Walk

Once again our church will open its doors for the Community Christmas Candlelight Walk. Luminaries will light the way between four participating churches.

Everyone is welcome. Simply stop by any participating church to pick up a map and begin your walk. There is no set schedule so you may drop by any church at any time during the event. St. John's will have cookies and a bell ringing demonstration every 15 minutes. We may even be visited by a few Saints, eager to tell us about their history.

The Finale will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 7:30pm. Come here the story of Christmas and enjoy the Cuyahoga Falls Community Choir as they sing the Hallelujah Chorus.

St. Nicholas is Coming!

Sunday, December 6, 2009
10:00am Service

Come learn about the history behind the legend of St. Nicholas and why he is so special. This annual event is a children's favorite (but I think the grown-ups have just as much fun!) Children should be ready to leave their shoes with the ushers when they come to church on this day. Wear warm socks to keep your feet comfy during the service.

Annual Christmas Tea

Sunday, December 6, 2009
3:00pm - 5:00pm

Prayer List Changes

We pray for people. If you would us to pray for you this month or continue to keep you on our prayer list from the previous month, please call the parish office during the last week of the month.

We will update the prayer list at the beginning of the month and add new requests as they arrive throughout the month and start out fresh again at the beginning of the next month.
